One of the best tourist-friendly coffeeshops in Amsterdam. Over the years, Abraxas has grown and evolved. At one time it consisted of a small coffeeshop and a night bar around the corner. Now, the night bar is gone but the coffeeshop is considerably bigger. The present-day coffeeshop consists of a warren of small rooms accessible via narrow spiral staircases at either end of the building. Each room has a distinctive theme and even the ground floor is divided into themed areas. At one end, the three floors have glass floors/ceilings. On our most recent visit I noticed that the thick glass was cracked at one edge making it even more disconcerting to walk across. A good variety of quality grass and hash are available and the environment makes this a comfortable place to hang out and consume.
